If you are anything like me, you have hundreds of old CD’s lying around that you never listen to anymore. You want to get rid of them, but you know they cost you a great deal of money, so you want something back for them. You have ripped your music into MP3s, but do not have a portable device to listen to them on yet. Well, there is a solution.

I wanted an iPod and I wanted to get rid of my CD’s, but where can you sell your CD’s without a problem? I found a site from Chicago, Illinois which will sell you an iPod, CD’s, DVD’s, and other media. The best part is that they will purchase your used items as well, at a market value that their system constantly calculates. The prices change based on the demand for the item you are selling, and they may not buy them all, but they took close to 200 of my CD’s for just under $250 US.

I as worried about sending CD’s to some place then having them decide what CD’s they would take and if it was enough to get the iPod you wanted. If they did not take enough CD’s then you have to send them more cash, and if you did not like their offer, you would have to pay to get your CD’s back again.

SPUN.com was the just the place I was looking for. Their site was easy to use, and best of all, they sold me the iPod first, then gave me 30 days to ship them my CD’s for a credit against the purchase, which was not charged to my credit card until the transaction completed. Each CD I sent was checked, and I received a report of the CD’s they were accepting and the ones they were not. All the CD’s have to be in jewel cases without cracks, with Original art work, and no scratches on the CD. I have about a dozen CD’s rejected. The best part is, for $4 US, they will return the CD’s to me, or if I place an order with them in the next 30 days, they will return my CD’s with that order for no extra fees.

I would have to recommend SPUN.com to anyone looking to do something similar. They even sent me a reminder email about 10 days before my 30 day expiry to send them my items for sale. This was a great add-in, even though it is easy with computer systems, but the reminder helps to ensure the procrastinators still get their items down to the company without being charged the complete amount for the iPod.

I now have a nice, shiny, black 30 Gig Video iPod for $150, which is more than half the price I would have paid in a store.

    Hey Steve-o!

I registered on Spun.com. I’m going to sell them a bunch of CD’s, but where did you find the deal with the iPod? I can’t seem to locate it.

Anyways, I was surfing around and found a similar site called secondspin.com. They’re based in California. They were willing to give me $1-$3.00 more for some of my CDs. Have you used second spin before?

    Peace

I have not tried the SecondSpin.com, but the iPod link is on the main page of Spun.com. Simply add an iPod to your shopping cart, then begin to sell the CDs. You should get accurate current pricing. My CD’s changed in price based on the day I was submitting them, as I believe the CD’s are compared to recent sales and current inventory.

I should also mention that not all my CDs matched the UPC codes, but were accepted anyway. A number of mine were ‘made’ in Canada by Columbia House or BMG, but were still accepted. Not sure if this will work with another site.
